The digitalisation of our society is advancing rapidly. It has many positive aspects—for individuals, for the economy and for our society. However, increasingly, negative developments are also becoming evident. These range from the loss of privacy and threats to democratic achievements to technology monopolies and algorithmic decisions affecting people.
“Digital Humanism” has emerged as a movement dedicated to analysing and questioning digitalisation. Its aim is to propose concepts for reorienting information technology according to human and democratic standards, and to advance the societal achievements of the Enlightenment. The “Vienna Manifesto on Digital Humanism” defines the key goals, which are also upheld by our association.
