Erich Prem

Dr. Erich Prem is Chief RTI Strategy Advisor and Managing Director of eutema GmbH. He is an expert in research and innovation strategy with more than two decades of professional experience in research and innovation management as well as in RTI policy. He was a visiting researcher at MIT and a researcher at OFAI. Erich is a certified Managerial Economist and works in the fields of AI, ethics, and research policy. He received his Dr. phil. (epistemology) from the University of Vienna, his Dr. techn. from TU Wien, where he also completed his master’s degree in computer science (AI). He earned his MBA in General Management at the Danube University Krems.
Katja Bühler
Secretary

Katja Bühler is the Scientific Director of the Vienna Research Center for Visual Computing (VRVis GmbH), with the mission of closing the gap between science and industry. As the head of the Image Informatics Group at VRVis, her research focuses on developing highly efficient methods for human-centered access to the information encoded in modern imaging data. She regularly serves as a scientific expert for the European Union, particularly in connection with the implementation of large-scale scientific data infrastructures.
Bernhard Krüpl-Sypien
Treasurer

Bernhard Krüpl-Sypien is the Managing Director of became.ai and works on applications of generative AI. He teaches Generative AI at the Faculty of Informatics of the Technical University of Vienna and provides students with up-to-date expertise on modern AI methods. He is the inventor of several patents in the areas of information extraction and data protection and brings many years of experience as a software architect. In addition, he founded several startups, combining technical expertise with entrepreneurial practice.
Stefan Woltran
Deputy Chairman

Stefan Woltran is Professor of “Formal Foundations of Artificial Intelligence” and Vice Dean of Studies at the Faculty of Informatics at TU Wien. His research in the field of symbolic AI has been recognized, among other distinctions, with the FWF START Award and by his appointment as a EURAI Fellow. In addition, he is active in the field of Digital Humanism and organized the first scientific conference on the topic in November 2025.
Christoph Thun-Hohenstein

Dr. Dr. Christoph Thun-Hohenstein is a cultural manager, curator, and author, as well as the Artistic Director of the cultural future platform ReGenerativa. From 1999 to 2007, he was Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum New York. From 2007 to 2011, he served as Managing Director of departure (die Kreativagentur der Stadt Wien). From 2011 to 2021, he was Director General of the MAK Museum Vienna. In 2014, he founded the Vienna Biennale for Change and directed it until 2022. He also initiated the Klima Biennale Wien. From 2022 to 2025, he was Head of the Section for International Cultural Affairs at the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs
Doris Vicker

Doris Vickers heads the Digitalization Unit of Wiener Volkshochschulen GmbH and, as a specialist advisor, is responsible for the field of computers, internet, and multimedia. In this dual role, she combines strategic innovation with practice-oriented educational work. A central concern of her activities is to make the principles of Digital Humanism easily accessible and to actively promote digital participation. In addition, she regularly publishes on current issues in the field of Digital Humanism at the intersection with modern adult education.
