Urania Sternwarte, Uraniastraße 1, Wien, 1010

How can interdisciplinary research contribute to a more inclusive and human-centred digital future?

The Doctoral College on Digital Humanism invites you to explore the current PhD research, discuss the opportunities and challenges of interdisciplinarity, and gain global perspectives.

Bringing together experts from different disciplines to explore the progress of the Doctoral College, sharing ongoing PhD projects, and discussing opportunities and challenges in interdisciplinary research, this is what our programme features:

  • opening remarks by Veronica Kaup-Hasler, Executive City Councillor for Cultural Affairs and Science of the City of Vienna,
  • the Vice Rectors Manuela Baccarini (University of Vienna), Bernadette Kamleitner (WU Wien)
  • insights from the College’s scientific coordinators, and project presentations by doctoral students,
  • a panel discussion will explore the everyday experiences of our interdisciplinary PhD projects.

The programme will be concluded by the keynote:

“Decolonizing the Digital Transformation – Digital Humanism and the Global South Perspective”
Anna Bon (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Maastricht University)

Her talk examines the global implications of digital transformation, addressing issues such as techno-colonisation, digital inequality, and the exploitation of data and natural resources. It calls for a more inclusive, sustainable, and human-centred digital society that takes perspectives from the Global South into account.
